Senior Fitness

Body Blueprints personal training is helping seniors become more healthy and fit through exercise and fitness programs specifically designed for seniors.

We all have activities that we do daily, but as we age, certain things become more of a challenge, more difficult. Our body starts to decline and we begin to notice impairments that may cause us to struggle with everyday tasks. Inactivity and improper nutrition can increase the risk factors and hasten the onset of chronic diseases like arthritis, hypertension, heart disease, hearing impairments, cataracts, poor circulation and diabetes. Falls are also a concern of the adult population. The physiological changes that take place with age yield a loss in neuromuscular efficiency resulting in an inability to prevent falls. A comprehensive core, balance, and reactive training program can target these physiologic changes and decrease fall risk. Beyond fall prevention, the incorporation of core, balance, and reactive training principles in the program design will enhance muscular coordination.

Research has shown that it is possible to prevent and even reverse some these effects. Therefore, it is important for seniors to take care of their body through proper nutrition and exercise, which is why I have specific exercise, health and fitness programs for seniors.

Body Blueprints senior program includes flexibility, stabilization training (core and balance), strength training, and cardiovascular training.

 
Flexibility:

As you get older, you lose elasticity of joints and connective tissues. It is important to do active and dynamic stretches to maintain joint mobility and to warm up your joints before you begin exercises.

Balance and Stabilization:
